Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before ordering an EPP or EPS mold — lead time, pricing, machine compatibility, documentation, and warranty.
25–40 days lead time·5 documents included·1 year warranty·Free DFM review·MOQ: 1 mold set
Getting Started
Send us your 3D file (STEP, IGES, or STL), a product sample, or a 2D sketch. Include your machine model and annual production volume. We return a DFM review and indicative quote within 3–5 business days. No charge for the DFM review.
At minimum: a product drawing or sample, your foam molding machine brand and model, and your target annual production volume. Optional but helpful: target part density (g/L), EPP/EPS bead supplier, and any certification requirements.
Yes. Send us the sample and we will reverse-engineer the geometry into a 3D model at no additional charge. We return a drawing for your approval before production starts.
Yes. We sign NDAs as standard practice for new projects. Request one with your inquiry and we return it within 24 hours.
Lead Time & Process
DFM review: 3–5 days. Mold design and sign-off: 5–10 days. CNC machining and surface treatment: 15–25 days. First article inspection: 3–5 days. Total from DFM approval to ship: 25–40 days. Complex molds may require 40–50 days.
We run a 15-point design feasibility check: shrinkage calculation, draft angle review, fill gun position layout, steam penetration simulation, parting line selection, machine interface verification, and mold weight estimate. You receive a written report and annotated drawing.
No. We will not begin machining until you have reviewed and approved the mold drawing in writing. Non-negotiable.
For simple packaging molds we can sometimes reduce lead time to 18–22 days at a surcharge. Contact us to discuss your timeline.
Machine Compatibility
Kurtz (PRO Foamer, POLY Foamer, BOX Foamer, PANEL Foamer), Erlenbach (EHV-C and EHV-E), Fangyuan (all current series), Teubert (CCM series), Welleps, EPSTEC, Longwell, and any other brand if you supply a spec sheet.
We ask for your machine model number and platen dimensions before designing. We verify the steam port layout, fill gun geometry, platen bolt/T-slot pattern, and mold weight capacity against your machine specifications — documented in the DFM report.
Send us the machine spec sheet or manual — specifically the platen dimensions, steam port layout, and fill gun specifications. We will design to those specs. Compatibility is rarely an issue when we have the reference data.
Sometimes, with adapter frames or dual-interface mold designs. This needs evaluation at the DFM stage. Contact us with both machine specs.
Pricing & Payment
Simple EPS packaging mold (fish box): USD 1,500–4,000. EPP headrest or seat mold: USD 3,000–8,000. EPP bumper core mold (large format): USD 8,000–20,000+. Large EPS construction panel mold: USD 4,000–12,000. These are indicative — request a formal quote based on your actual drawing.
Mold body + surface treatment + all 5 technical documents + spare parts starter kit + DFM review + remote setup support. No hidden charges.
50% deposit at order confirmation, 50% before shipment. For established customers, alternative terms are available.
1 mold set. No minimum order requirement.
Mold Quality & Specs
Cavity inserts: 7075-T6 (automotive, high-cycle molds) or 6061-T6 (standard packaging). Frames: 5052 aluminum alloy or Q235 structural steel for large-format molds. All materials come with mill certificates.
DAIKIN industrial-grade PTFE (Teflon), 30–50 μm, applied after final CNC machining. Rated to 260°C+. Coating thickness is measured and reported in the material certificate.
Critical cavity dimensions: ±0.05–0.1 mm. Overall mold dimensions: ±0.1 mm. Maximum mold size: 1,800 × 2,500 mm.
7075-T6 aluminum with proper maintenance: 500,000–1,000,000 production cycles. Wear components (fill guns, air plugs, seal rings) require replacement every 10,000–30,000 cycles.
Documentation & Support
5 documents, every mold, as standard: (1) Material & Components Whitepaper, (2) DFM Feasibility Report, (3) Scientific Molding Process Report, (4) Mold Maintenance Guide, (5) Spare Parts Inventory + Starter Kit. 90% of mold suppliers provide zero documentation.
Remote support via WhatsApp, WeChat, or Zoom video call. We walk through machine setup and first production run with your team. Available 7 days/week, 7am–11pm CST.
Contact us via WhatsApp (+86 133 7542 7769). We respond within 2 hours during operating hours. Most setup issues resolve in a 30-minute video call with your machine operator.
Warranty & After-Sales
1-year warranty from delivery, covering manufacturing defects: dimensional non-conformance, surface coating failure under normal operating conditions, structural failures in the mold frame, fill gun assembly defects.
Normal wear items (fill guns, air plugs, seal rings, springs). Damage from improper maintenance, operation outside specified parameters, or physical damage during installation.
We rework or replace the non-conforming components at our cost. The CMM report shipped with the mold is the baseline reference.
